What A Difference A Year Can Make

Welcome to Day 1 of my daily blog.

I’ve been wanting so badly to document my journey with a vlog on Youtube but after trying to squeeze video editing into my already jam packed schedule it just wasn’t feasible. I do want to spend at least some time with my family, lol.

I do love to write though so a daily blog is a nice compromise. I have a tendency to start things and never follow through, so I have made a promise to myself to commit to 90 consecutive days and go from there.

I am excited to share my experiences and my goal behind this daily blog is to inspire others to take the leap and go after your goals and dreams. I plan on sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly……and there is a lot of all three.

Today feels like a new beginning for me.

Friday was the last day for the Dusty Road Boutique store front location and it felt a tiny bit weird not having to wake up, get myself ready, and drive into town to open the door at 10am.

Everything is still being stored at the store right now so I did have to go in and ship packages today and I will be doing a lot of the day to day operations there until we get things moved to the new warehouse space, aka my basement!

The forecast said it was supposed to snow overnight so we were surprised when we woke up to no fresh snow.

That didn’t last long though. It started falling fast and furious around 9am and the country was quickly covered in yet another white blanket of snow!

It’s easy to forget what month we are in.

When I got to the store this morning a box  was waiting for me from Bath & Body Works! Eeeek, I love online shopping too!

I patiently waited until I got home and then I ripped that sucker open, haha….

Gah, I just love their boxes! Dusty Road #goals!!

I am obsessed with Bath & Body Works. Their 3-wick candles are ah-ma-zing. My skin depends on their Sand & Sea Salt Scrub . And my home needs the Stress Relief wall flowers plugged in at all times.

In the winter I love to burn some of the “heavier” scents but with the season (hopefully) changing I wanted to get some lighter, fruitier, and floral scents. I can’t wait to try them out.

So far just from giving them the “sniff test” my favourite is Mango Mai Tai but once they are burning that could change!

I am also a huge fan of their foaming hand soap. We were still using Christmas smells so I swapped them out for these!

Can you tell I love the beach?

Another must have candle (in my opinion) is Happiness from their Aromatherapy line.

It’s just so good!

And yup, that’s my hubby washing dishes in the background, lol. That makes me pretty happy too!!

Tuesday’s at Dusty Road mean new arrivals are launched.

Along with that I plan out a rough social media schedule and design and send out an email to my list featuring all of the new arrivals.

I also spent a good portion of the day planning out our very first “Life & Style” live show that we debuted on Facebook live!

Myself, along with with three amazing friends (and now DRB team members) collaborated  for a panel style talk show and oh my gosh it was so much fun!

These are just a couple of screen shots from the video so excuse the poor quality!

A year ago it took me an hour to muster up enough courage to press the LIVE button and do my very first video so it is pretty cool to be able to do this show and sit in front of the camera for an hour talking and not have a panic attack! I would of never dreamt of doing this a year ago!

Our next show will be live Tuesday at 8pm CST.

Tomorrow also marks one year from when I started launching weekly new arrivals at Dusty Road Boutique. It was honestly a last stitch effort to “save” my business. I was floundering, my confidence was plummeting and I was definitely considering throwing in the towel.

That last stitch effort combined with a lot of stubbornness, hard work and consistency led to a huge year of growth and learning!

Consistency is key…..that is not just a saying. Take it seriously if you want to reach your goals!

I’ve got a jam packed week planned including a “pop up” shop in Assiniboia at the Business Expo trade show. It’s exciting and nerve wracking all at the same time.

I hope you enjoyed Day 1 with me and remember…..”you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” ~ A.A Milne

Cheers,

Kimberley
