I Quit

I quit procrastinating on getting back to blogging that is!

IMG_3293.JPG.jpeg

Argh, I have missed this so much. I had full intentions of keeping up on my bloggin’ through our big move across the province but that didn’t happen. I put a lot of pressure and expectations on myself so I’m not going to lie I am disappointed  in myself for not following through.

I was, however, not expecting the mental and emotional overwhelm but it slowly crept in and something had to give. I am quite easily overwhelmed, something I need to work on. I am a keep it simple kind of girl so I am always looking for that fine balance of working towards by goals and not biting off more than I can chew.

But I have so much I want to share from my experiences with my business, being a wife, a mother and a goal chaser…..always working to be just a little bit better than I was yesterday.

Just like when I started the blog earlier this year, my hopes in sharing my story and journey will offer my readers a little inspiration mixed in with a little humour, some tears, and hopefully a little bit of entertainment {at my expense of course}.

Catching Up

We are now partially settled into our new home. We really love it here. The community has been very welcoming and hospitable….a true small prairie town!

I say we are partially settled because errr we still have a room full of things to unpack, a trailer FULL of things to unpack, and at least one more trailer load left to haul from our farm.

This has been an enormous change for us but one thing that is fantastic is that we have been blessed to have found an acreage that offers us that same “farm” life we had before.  Minus the cows of course, but it gives us the opportunity to get back into them in the future if we want!

I do miss the rolling hills of home but the view from our new home is still pretty great!IMG_3158.JPG.jpeg

One last change or rather addition.

Meet Goldie! She is the new queen of our castle and is such a doll. A smarty pants, she was housebroke in a week! Her favourite past times are dive bombing dandelions and spreading the seeds everywhere and playing in puddles and getting covered in mud.

I hope you enjoy pursuing my blog, if this is the first visit feel free to take some time to catch up on some of my older posts and join me back here tomorrow for more!

Cheers,

Kimberley

My Husband Moved Out

I have been dreading this day.

I know we will be just fine and that we have so much to be thankful for but I was getting pretty darn used to having my husband around all the time!

For the last three months since he was let go from his job he took over doing all of the farm chores, plus helped around the house, and hauled Liam to his sports. Oh, and helped ME with my store!

IMG_2929.JPG

And now he has officially moved out. Off to start his new chapter in a new town at a new job.

And I have to take over ALL of the responsibilities ALL of the time and that just freaks me out a little! Plus I have to pack up our house in the midst of all of that.

Thankfully there is a light at the end of the tunnel and in 5 weeks (cross our fingers) we will moving out with him so we can all start our new adventure.

And I am sure we will be making the 5 hour drive many times in between to see each other.

We will miss him thats for sure…..but it will all be totally worth it!

Cheers,

Kimberley

I Drove A Tractor At My Brothers Wedding

My baby brother tied the knot today (well technically yesterday but I didn’t get home until well past midnight).

Congrats to my brother and his beautiful wife on their marriage and their wonderful country wedding.

Love the chandelier in the barn!! The wedding ceremony was on their new farm and it was the perfect location for a little country wedding!

They served refreshments out of the bucket of the tractor after the ceremony. Someone needed to take the tractor home between the ceremony and supper…..I handled it!

You can dress me up but I will always be a farm girl at heart!

It was a great day and I was also honoured to welcome the bride to our family during the reception!

Best wishes to them on all of their future adventures!

A Kick in the Butt and Quick Update

Life has been a crazy whirlwind and I really can’t complain……although it has been a tad hard on the nerves!

I left off with our house hunting adventures and where we are going and I have barely been able to keep my s#!t together to get the essentials done this past week…..it has been ridiculous.

Thank goodness for my awesome husband who has been helping me way more than he should have to or I would be so far behind in mailing packages and getting my work done!

He leaves for his new job very soon so I need to get my act together pronto!

On the bright side we found a house. Super excited about that. I will have to wait until its official official before I make any announcements as to exactly where we and The Dusty Road Boutique will be located.

In other excitement my family also has been getting ready for a wedding. When your busy you might as well be insanely busy! My brother is getting married this weekend and today we spent some time helping get ready for it!

The light was amazing at the ceremony location…..that’s my old photographer coming out in me! The weather was also beautiful. The mosquitos were savages!

In all of this craziness and hustle and bustle I am definitely learning a lot about myself! Firstly, that it is okay to lean on others for help and support. There are times you really need them. I have never been one to seek out help but I am learning.

When I am in a rut and a little down on myself I look to youtube for some inspiration and a kick in the butt. I always seem to find just the right video and just the right time to open my eyes.

This time it was Mel Robbins speech “The Secret to Self-Motivation” and the thing that hit me was “you are never going to feel like it”. Those things you need to do to get closer to your goals. Those things you know you should be doing. If you wait until you “feel like doing them” it will never happen. You just have to do them, regardless of what you feel like at that moment.

Obviously she explains it better so watch the video. Absorb it and live it! It is life changing advice and exactly what I needed right now as I struggle to figure out how to adjust to my new reality and overcome a big emotional rut!

I knew better but I didn’t “feel like it” and I was starting to sabotage a lot of what I had been working so hard for!

Of course nothing is a quick fix but I feel like I am back on the right track.

I hope you all have an amazing weekend!

Cheers,

Kimberley

I’m Addicted

I have an addictive personality…..as in I get addicted to things very easily, ha!

And now I have a new obsession.

I received this beauty of a bracelet in the mail this week from shadesofjay. She is a fellow Saskatchewanian and makes the most gorgeous bracelets that I have been eyeing up for a very long time. I finally took the leap and bought a custom designed Humboldt Broncos fundraiser bracelet and OMG I an in love!!

I just had to give her a shout out! Be sure to follow her on Facebook here. I am completely hooked and want MORE!

I have been struggling to make time to blog this past week, I have been so exhausted both physically and mentally. Life feels a bit like an out of control roller coaster at the moment but I think I just need to get used to that!

One step at a time!

I was busy getting all of next weeks new arrivals ready as we are off again this weekend to meet with some family and then on to look at houses and an apartment for the hubby as he starts work in just over a week! My brother is also getting married next weekend and we have a few things to help get ready with that too! Yup, some big changes are coming at a very high speed. Exciting times!

Here is a sneak peek of one of the tops coming next week….

Kimberley
