I Made A Mistake

Today I have proven I am not responsible enough to make even mildly important decisions.

I let my child be on my Facebook live show.

What the “BLEEP” was I thinking?

. . .

Today was actually a moderately eventful day…..in my low low standards kind of way!

The highlight (excuse the super creepy snapchat filtered selfie)…..

I finally got my glasses fixed. And surprise surprise, I can see better. Who knew when your glasses are bent and crooked it would inhibit your vision……ya I’m probably the only dumb one that didn’t realize that!

My eyes got worse too which means time for some new glasses.

Tried a few on…..

Seriously, trying glasses on is NOT my favourite thing to do! You will have to wait and see if I picked any of these, but man oh man glasses aren’t cheap……especially when you have “coke bottle” lenses!

After some errands and a lunch date we were back home to take Liam to ball practice.

Storm clouds rolled in while we were there……always love the view of our grain elevator with storm clouds!

And then a few short hours later the damage…..

The results of my very poor decision to allow my son to join our weekly Facebook Live broadcast.

I was playing with fire and I didn’t even know it……man I am glad he only mildly embarrassed me!

If you dare watch it check out my Facebook page here.

Lesson learned. The hard way.

I hope you had a fabulous Tuesday!

Cheers,

Kimberley

Prairie Therapy

Prairie Therapy.

Those who live or have lived on the wide open prairies know this is a real thing.

It’s not a secret. Just overlooked.

Today was one of those days. Putting out metaphorical fires left and right. One thing that I tell anyone who asks me advice about starting their own store……you must have thick skin and get real good at putting out all kinds of fires.

IMG_2676.JPG

Little fires pop up here and there. Your email quits working. Your website has a glitch. People you depend on won’t get back to you. You dated a cheque wrong to your supplier and now your account is overdue. A customer has a concern. An internet troll comes out of the woodwork.

Rinse. Wash. Repeat.

Just another day as a business owner!

It can be stressful at times but you start to actually enjoy taking on the challenges. If you don’t it will be a long road (or a short one if you really can’t hack it).

But sometimes it is just good to step away for awhile. Take a deep breath. Do something totally unrelated.

I had to pick up my hubby from the pasture today, he was moving the tractor down there to do some work. While I was waiting I took a few moments to be still. To reflect. To enjoy the warmth of the sun. And take in the beauty of the most amazing sight that spring has to offer us on the prairies.

Crocuses.

It was only for a few moments but it was just enough to renew my spirits, change my perspective and reenergize so I could get back to dousing those fires.

Ahhh, prairie therapy.

You are the best!

I hope you have an amazing day and don’t have as many flames roaring as I did!

I had to remind myself of this a few times today, like I always say….. ”you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

Cheers,

Kimberley

I Turned Into An Evil B!%#H

Ugh.

The day started out great. I was in a great mood.

Then afternoon hit and like a switch was flipped I turned into an evil b!%#h.

Yup, I freely admit I can get awfully grumpy. To the point I don’t even enjoy being around myself, ha! My fuse is short, my patience is thin, and my space is off limits.

I am blaming it on lack of sleep and just being overwhelmed with all that is going on, mixed in with a crappy diet and out of whack hormones.

But I HATE excuses.

And I also believe in taking accountability for your actions and that no matter what you have a CHOICE on how you behave and react.

You MUST be self aware.

So my take away from my bad attitude today is that I need to work a lot harder on being in the moment and not reacting mindlessly.

Rather than allow my current emotions to dictate my response I need to be more present  and mindful and choose a better option…..and consider the other person in the process.

And if that doesn’t work. Go have a nap!

200 Pounds of Clothes Hits The Floor….Literally

OMG.

WordPress is killing me man.

I just spent the last hour blogging. Hit publish. And nothing. My entire hour of writing. Gone. Vamoose. Disappeared.

Lesson learned. Save, backup, save again. And maybe highlight, copy and paste just in case.

UGH.

So here I go again……..

IMG_2588.jpg

Today started out a great day! The sun was shining. The snow was melting.

And I got to drive the “old beast” to work.

The “old beast”, aka “the fun ton”, aka our 2006 F350 dually has been through a lot with us. From bringing our son home from the hospital. To hauling the trailer thousands of miles. To being my main whip up until a few short years ago.

It’s now the “back up” truck but it’s still fun to take it for a cruise from time to time although it’s most certainly not as “smooth” as the new hunk I get to drive!

Today was all about catching up…….actually that about describes how I feel about life right now. Just trying to catch up!

Packages all got shipped today. New clothes were measured. And I photographed a bunch of floor layouts for next week.

Shhhh….don’t tell anyone you seen this sneak peek. It will be hitting the website this coming Tuesday so stay tuned for that!

Speaking of hitting.

I experienced what 200 pounds of clothes looks like hitting the floor……

IMG_2593.jpg

Ooops. I’m just glad I got out of the way in time, haha.

Apparently putting ALL of the clothes on just one side of a two sided clothing rack is a bad idea.

I always have to learn things the hard way!

The rest of the day was spent finalizing the trade show booth. Once I had everything just how I wanted it I started tearing it all down and packing it away.

Did I mention how much I LOVE trade shows <<insert sarcasm>>

In all seriousness, I am really looking forward to my trade show debut this weekend! If you are in the Assiniboia area this Friday 4-8 or Saturday 10-4 stop by the Business Expo and say hi!

That’s a wrap on Day 3. I now have to force myself to go to bed so I can get up early and get ready for the big day!

I hope you have an amazing day and don’t forget….”you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

Cheers,

Kimberley
